Obituary of Virginia L. Edwards

Funeral services will be Sunday, April 18th, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at Collier-Butler Chapel for Virginia L. Edwards, 84, of Gadsden, who passed away Thursday, April 15th, 2021. Colin Edwards will officiate. Interment will be at Forrest Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services. Virginia was a native of Gadsden, AL. She was a member of Whites Chapel Baptist Church. She graduated from Emma Sansom High School and later retired from Alabama Fabric in Gadsden. Preceding her in death is her husband, Bobby F. Edwards; longtime companion, Byron Handy; parents, L.S. and Francis Edwards; In laws, Billy James and Rose Edwards; sister, Joyce Edward Stephens; brother, Bryant Edwards; sister in law, Sue Payne; brothers in law, Don Edwards and Niles Payne; niece, Yasmin Stephens; nephews, Steve Stephens and Robert "Robbie" Edwards. Survivors include children, Richard "Ricky" Edwards-Gadsden, Terri (Mike) Edwards O'Bryant-Rainbow City, Mike (Tiffany) Edwards-Horton, AL; grandsons, Judson Edwards, Tyler (Monica) Edwards, granddaughters, Amanda (Abe) Duckett, Emery Edwards, Madison Mosley; sister in law, Pat Edwards, Betty Hancock, and Mary Joyce Edwards; brother in law, Jerry Edwards; great grandchildren, Enzo and Luca Edwards, Logan Duckett; special friend, Phyllis Gray; special niece and nephew, Beverly Edwards Hurst and Chris Edwards; and several other nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mike O'Bryant, Abe Duckett, Chris Edwards, Ronnie Reed, Tyler Edwards, and Jud Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Elliott, Dick Downey, and Buster Gross. Family would like to express a special thanks to Gadsden Fire Dept. station #8, Gadsden EMS, Gadsden Regional 6th floor, Amedisys Hospice, Dr. Wilcox, Dr. Buck and staff of Doctors Care. Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from noon until hour of service.
