She married Stanley Anderson on February 14, 1957, at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Paul. They settled onto a farm near Montrose, SD and raised their family. Virginia loved to garden and loved music. She even played an accordion. She was a member of Ramsey Baptist Church and active in the ladies circle and choir. They retired and moved to Madison in 1984.
