On November 18, 1918 Gilbert married Gjerste Yndestad. They made their home in Pigeon. At the time oif his daughter Stella's death in 1920, he was said to be living back in Norway.
Gilbert and Tala's children included: Randena (born 1883, married Oscar Knutson), Martha S (born 1885, married Walemore Andresen), Gina Marie "Mary" (1893, married John Thompson), Gertrude Amelia (1894, married Elmer Henderson), Stella Otila (1897) and Lydia B (married Theodore Andresen [1921], Sidney Dissmore [1961] and Dale Corzett [1967]). Gina and Stella are buried in Curran Valeey Cemetery where their mother is interred. Gertie and Dena are buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Taylor, and Martha and Lydia are buried in Trinity Rest, Hixton.
