Sculptor, Actress. Born Irene Frances Luthern Deffenbaugh in Spokane, Washington. She followed her mother actress Irene Rich into the entertainment industry, appearing in the films "Unholy Love" (1932), "The Thirteenth Guest" (1932), and "Zoo in Budapest" (1933), and in the 1932 Broadway production "Brief Moment". However, it would be her sculptures for which she gained great acclaim, most notably the Army-Navy Nurse Monument located at Arlington National Cemetery and of personalities such as opera singer Lotte Lehmann, advocate Margaret Sanger and actress Katharine Hepburn. She was also well known for her many religious works that can be found throughout the United States. During World War II, Rich served in the United States Naval Reserve achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
