Roger Franklin "Woody" Wood passed away, peacefully, early Thursday morning on April 22, 2021, in Tulsa at the age of 90. He was born on Friday, June 27, 1930, in Council Hill, Oklahoma to Ernest and Bertha (Sandusky) Wood. As a young boy, Roger moved with his family to Morris, Oklahoma where he attended school. Roger graduated from Morris High School and enlisted in the United States Navy on Tuesday, June 1, 1948, serving during the Korean Conflict. His squadron, VA-115, still meets for annual reunions. He married the love of his life, Norma Sue Woodley, on Sunday, October 14, 1951, at Woodall Methodist Church in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was Honorably Discharged on Wednesday, May 14, 1952. Roger joined his wife in Tulsa and went to work for McDonnell Douglas as an Aircraft Specialist. He retired in the early 1990's. After retirement, he began working at the Kenosha Barber Shop for three days only. As a Barber, he has cut the hair of multiple generations through the years. Roger retired from Barbering in June of 2020 at the age of 89. He attended Northside Christian Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Roger was an active member of the Eastern Oklahoma Woodcarver's Association for many years. He enjoyed camping, growing flower and vegetable gardens, and giving hugs. He will be remembered by his family as someone who was always busy, totally engaged in whatever he was doing at the time. He could fix anything, was a great storyteller, and had a gift of making people happy. He stayed independent and active until February 10, 2021. Roger will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma Sue; and one sister Joyce McDowell. Roger is lovingly survived by his children, Roger Stephen Wood and his wife, Barbara, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and Dr. Gina S. Honeyman of Glorieta, New Mexico; three granddaughters, Rachel Borglum of Minnesota, Jeanie Bolding of Sand Springs, and Alexzandria Wood of Broken Arrow. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; a sister, Ila Morgan and her husband, Randy, of Grove, Oklahoma; other extended family and a lifetime of friends.
