With the deepest sorrow, we announce that Rodney Jo Johnson, age 51 our most beloved son, brother, family member, and friend departed this life on, April 15, 2021, in Taylorville Illinois at the hospital due to Kidney failure. He was born January 8, 1970 in Marvell Arkansas to the parents of Bessie Jean Harris and Willie Jo Johnson (deceased June 28, 1978).
Those who knew Rodney, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives. Most of all, they recall the sheer pleasure of his company, how good he made them feel, how free they were to be themselves around him, and how much they will miss him. Rodney cared about people most purely. He loved them for who they were and because he wished the best for them, without guile and without asking anything in return.
We know Rodney is now with his Grandmother and Grandfather Louis & Marvin Cole, His father Willie Johnson, his younger brother Cedric Roy Craft and other family members that are loved here on earth as well as in heaven.
He will be sorely missed and survived by his mother Bessie Jean Harris (Seattle Washington), brothers' Harry Bernard Johnson (Springfield Illinois) Dewayne LaCorey Craft (Waterloo Iowa). Sister's Brenda Anne Harris, LaShunta Denise Johnson (Waterloo Iowa and, Stephanie LaMia Craft (Nashville Tennessee), Uncles Marvin Cole Jr (Chicago IL) and Roy Lee Cole (Lexington Kentucky) Aunts Willie Bee Howes, Mable Alice Cole (Springfield Illinois). Linda Maire Hopkins (Lexington Kentucky), Dorthey Cole (Chicago IL), and a host of loving Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and, many great friends.
