Richard Forrest Cox -- October 1, 1934 – April 9, 2021

Salem - Richard passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on April 9, 2021. Richard was born to Merton and Lucille Cox in McMinnville, and was the first of three children, Jane and David.

The family moved to Stayton in the 1940's and Richard excelled at football, basketball, baseball and track at Stayton High School. After attending Oregon State University he served in the Navy. In 1959 he married Beverly Miller and they moved to Salem where they raised their three children. He spent his work career in the construction industry as a mechanical contractor, ultimately becoming President and Co-owner of Bowen Brothers Plumbing and Heating in Salem.

Richard was a long-time member of the Elks. His interests included hunting, fishing, the outdoors, reading, and attending family sporting events. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly, who passed in May 2019. He is survived by his sister Jane Strickland (Salem) and his children John (Nancy) of Salem, Carolyn Cox (Eric Raman) of Seattle, Jeff (Jennifer) of West Linn as well as six grandchildren; Matthew and Chad Cox, Henry, Iain and Sonja Cox-Raman and Carter.
