Leon received his education through the McDowell County public school system. After school he fulfilled his life serving in many kitchens as a chef.
Leon was a force to be reckoned with all his life. Although there were many women he crossed paths with in his lifetime, he never married. He was well known around town and never met a stranger. His family and friends meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he mentioned often. He was unendingly proud of his children; he may not have always gotten it right but he never gave up trying to be the best father he knew how to be. He was immensely thrilled to be a Poppi/Poppop to his two grandsons whom he enjoyed chasing and bragging about.
He was a passionate Dallas cowboys and LA Lakers fan (#mambaout) and could be found cooking something up for people or helping out a friend when he wasn't home.
Anyone who knew Leon could attest that he was the most proud father, grandfather and loving friend/family member we could ask for. He was so special to many. Leon was predeceased by Lee Banks (father), Mary Foster (mother), Samuel Foster (brother), Ronald Wheeler (brother), Harold Banks (brother), Pauline Echols (sister), Shirley Foster (sister) and a set of twin boys (Travon Devonte and Devonte Matthew Foster). He leaves to cherish his precious memories Daughter Shanice Foster and spouse Samuel Powell along with their two children (his grandsons) Zayden Powell and Kohen Powell, sons D'Angelo Foster and Tyrese Foster along with their mother Michelle Cowley, sisters: Carolyn Wheeler, Paulette Burns, Regina Foster, Aljurita Thomas, Clara Cannady, Brenda Washington, and Carrie Banks; brothers Clifford Banks and Lee Foster and many Nieces and nephews.
Anyone who knew Leon could tell you he was the kind of man that would give the shirt off his back. He loved to give back in any way he could. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to a Gofundme account set up in his honor- Leonslegacy. ( gf.me/u/zqj5yr ) Funds will help to cover funeral related expenses and the rest will be donated to a local charity, Pantries Plus More program in his name.
