Carl Creamer, 80, of Waldoboro, passed away early on the morning of Dec. 16 at Maine Medical Center. Born at home in Waldoboro, April 21, 1925. Carl was the son of Millard and Lillian Mae (Roscoe) Creamer. He attended Waldoboro schools and at the age of 17 enlisted in the US Navy, serving proudly in the European Theater of operations during WWII. He was awarded the Victory Medal, as well as the American, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbons with one Battle Star following his discharge, Carl returned home and began his career in shell fishing. He fished out of Waldoboro, on the Medomak River, on his lobster dory, working entirely with his hands. On days he wasn't lobstering, Carl dug clams, providing year round for his family. Not intending to retire, he was forced to stop fishing in his early seventies, due to health issues nearly fifty years. An active member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Thomaston for 31 years, Carl also attended the Waldoboro United Methodist Church. He was a passionate sportsman and hunter, having earned several competitive pistol-shooting trophies throughout the region. His parents, his daughter Bonnie Creamer Cole, in 1977 and his sister Madelyn Potamatis predeceased him. Carl leaves his cherished wife of 57 years, Lillyanne (Tibbetts) Creamer of Waldoboro, granddaughter, whom he raised, Angela L. Ripley and husband Dana of Waldoboro, sons, Carl Craig Creamer and wife Donna of Warren and Jeffrey P. Creamer and wife Denice of Waldoboro, sisters, Joyce C. Benner of Windsor; brother, Arthur M. Creamer and wife Beryl, of Waldoboro; seven other loving grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to be with the family 12-1 p.m. Wed. Dec. 21 at the Strong Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. A service to honor Carl's life will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Susan Winter officiating. He will be laid to rest, with his daughter, at the Brookland Cemetery, Waldoboro. If desired, donations maybe made to the Knights of Pythias, Arcana Lodge # 102, Attention George Simmons, secretary, P.O. Box # 32, Thomaston, ME 04861. Arrangements are entrusted to the Strong Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Damariscotta.
