Born in England southeast of Liverpool, the first documented information that we have on Richard is that he married Ruth Allerton on 27 June 1737. Richard originally settled on the islands of Martha's Vinyard and Nantucket with his wife and 4 young boys. Soon he made western New Jersey his home where he passed in 1765, he was rumored to have been a Quaker yet he is buried in a Baptist cemetery.
