On Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, Frank Blankenship, of Panama City, lost his battle with lung cancer. He fought his fight with love and laughter and a twinkle in his eye until the end. The angels came and took our be-loved son, husband, dad, grandpa Frank to be with the Lord.

Frank served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was an industrial electrician by trade and worked for Alabama Electric and Brown and Root at Stone Container Company as well as for Williams Electric at Bay Medical Center.

Preceding him in death and there to meet him at the gate are his father, Chester Blankenship, and a special cousin, Joe Couey.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred Blankenship Pack, of Athens, Ala.; his loving wife of 21 years, Iberia Yvonne Blankenship; four children, YoLanda Lynn Granger and husband, Butch, Elaine Button and husband, Jan, Sandy Roberts and husband, David, all of Panama City, Fla., and John Whaley of Gainsville, Fla.; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildrenm and a very special cousin, Doris McGuire and husband, Arvid, of Athens, Ala.

Memorial services for Mr. Blankenship will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, in the Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Brackett of Callaway Assembly of God offici-ating.
