Susan (Sue) Gail Sharkey, 62, of Burlington, died February 1, 2021 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, after a short illness. Born February 6, 1958, she was the daughter of William Wayne Sharkey and Mary Elizabeth Swan Sharkey. Sue was a 1976 graduate of Burlington Community High School, a 1980 graduate of Augustana, receiving her BA, and a 1983 graduate of the University of Iowa where she received her Masters Degree in Speech Pathology. After working in Minnesota, Michigan and California, she returned to Burlington to work remotely from home. Her earlier work also took her to England, Germany, France and the Netherlands. Sue loved Hawkeye football, San Francisco Giants baseball, her dog Gingersnap, and rescuing many cats that found their way to her home. Sue also enjoyed gardening and reacquainting herself with her hometown. Sue is survived by many friends that loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother David Sharkey. Sue was of the Lutheran faith.
