Seattle, Washington - Karen Louise Graham was born March 15, 1957 at Queen of the World Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri to Leonard A. and Alma Louise James Graham. Both parents preceded her in death.
Karen, lovingly known as Karo, attended Mark Twain Elementary School, Southeast Junior High School, graduating from Southeast Senior High School in 1975. Karen continued her education at Central Missouri State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology.
In 1992 Karen pursued a career opportunity with Allstate Insurance Company and relocated to Seattle, Washington. Shortly thereafter, Karen secured a position with King County, Washington. This is where her 30-year career journey evolved to her current position as a Claims Manager. She was highly regarded by colleagues as well as her staff for her presence, her integrity and her mediation expertise.
From her days of being a "tom-boy" Karen loved sports, especially basketball and football. Despite being in 'Sea Hawk' country her favorite team was always the 'Kansas City Chiefs.' Karen loved jazz, loved to travel, and enjoyed being with family and friends. As a 'wine connoisseur' she always gifted family and friends with her discoveries from visiting wineries across the country. Her young cousins were always delighted in the presence of the "cool auntie" who loved them unconditionally affording them the opportunity to express themselves freely. They adored her and she was able and ready to give advice and share her wisdom.
Karen was a fearless woman, our 'shero'…a woman who exuded elegance, grace, beauty, wisdom, humility and courage. Most of all she loved God and studied the Bible always seeking to understand Him through his word. She was a spiritual being and valued the connectedness to God, the source. Despite her health challenges she remained in a perpetual state of thankfulness and always acknowledged the many blessings that were bestowed upon her.
Karen leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Leonard J. Graham, sister-in-law, Barbara A. Graham, Kansas City, Missouri. Nephew, Mark A. Graham; niece, Robin Graham and great nephew, Patrice Graham, all of Chicago, Illinois and a host of family and friends. She is loved.
