David was born on July 3, 1949 in Purcell, OK. He was the oldest of 4 children born to R .D. and Verna (Burns) Stephens. He passed away on Wednesday April 14, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. David graduated in 1967 from Washington High School where he met the love of his life, his wife Neva Jo Price. David was a faithful, active member of the Washington Church of Christ for 47 years. He publicly taught scriptures, led congregational singing, prayers, administered the Lord's Supper, and served in many other capacities. He loved the Church and his Church family. Early in David's career, he was a lineman working for OG&E in Norman, OK. Later in life he was a home builder and ended his working career as the owner of Stephens Propane business for many years. David was a hard worker and an avid sportsman with many trophy bucks, bull elk, turkey, and fish. He hunted and killed his fair share of quail, squirrel, and pheasant. He fished for bass in TX, OK, and MO. At McGee Creek he loved to fish for crappie with his friend Tommy Dover. He also fished for salmon in Alaska with his boys and Tom and June Job.

Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his father, R.D. Stephens; his grandparents, Roy and Ora Stephens; Bill and Lydia Burns; and his Uncle Ralph Stephens.

David's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Neva Jo Stephens of the home; two sons, Darren Stephens and wife Tara of Cole, OK; Brandon Stephens and wife Kelly of Tebbetts, MO.; his three grandchildren who meant everything to him, Reese Stephens; Hallie Stephens; and Rylee Stephens. He is also survived by his mother, Verna Stephens; three sisters, Linda Andrews and husband Wayne, Holly Mattingly and husband Johnny, and Tracy Mallory all of Washington. His sister-in-law Barbara McCall of Cole, OK; and a man that David considered a brother-in-law, J.R.Murray and wife Sandy of Shawnee, OK also survive him. David also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him tremendously.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 16, 2021 at Wilson-Little home chapel. Interment will follow at the Washington cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
