Parents - Augustus Harrington and Bessie Teague Harrington Heglar. Educated in the Kannapolis schools, Mrs. Rhodes graduated from J.W. Cannon High School in 1944 and began working at the former Cannon Mills in the payroll department. In 1953, she married her devoted husband of 56 years. After the birth of their daughter, she left Cannon Mills to faithfully support her husband and daughter as a housewife and mother. Mrs. Rhodes was an active member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church throughout her entire life.

Mrs. Rhodes was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ward Rhodes, her siblings Charlie Harrington, Rev. Ray Harrington, Ora Lee Hannah, Claude Harrington, Hall Harrington, Ned Harrington, and Helen Bowman. Reunited once again, they are no doubt standing around the piano singing the Lord's praises in perfect harmony.
