Barbara Maida Sherman, 80, of Fort Oglethorpe, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. She was born in Arizona on May 4, 1940, and spent her childhood and most of her adult life in California, where she raised her two children, Edgar Jay Sherman IV and Amy Royl Sherman. She was a nurse for over 40 years and loved taking care of her patients. Barbara enjoyed gardening, quilting, going to church, and spending time with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Redden, and brother William "Bill" Redden. Survivors include her loving children, Edgar (Christina) Jay Sherman IV and Amy Sherman; granddaughter Isabelle Rose; brother, James (Elaine) Redden; sisters, Peggy Sumida and Karen Redden; and nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Judy Roden, Rhonda Bailey, and the Hospice of Chattanooga staff. They would also like to thank her caregiver, Judy Verrill.
