Martha L. Nelson, nee Licklider, of Cuba, MO, was born on Friday, February 15, 1946 in Cuba, MO to Sherman Licklider and Dorothy Emerson Licklider. She passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021, at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, MO at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 28 days.

Martha graduated from St. Clair High School and then attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO where she received a Business Degree. She worked for many years at Federal Moog in Wellston, MO as an accounting secretary. She married the love of her life, Ken Nelson, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Cuba, MO on April 26, 2003. They had made their home in Cuba for the past 18 plus years. In her early years, she had not traveled to many places. After marrying Ken, an over the road truck driver, she traveled extensively with him during their first five years of marriage. She ended up visiting 48 states.

She was a member of Deer Creek Church and had made a profession of faith early in her life. Martha loved crafting – sewing, crocheting, making wreaths, and she was very passionate about her stain glass projects. She enjoyed being outdoors in the yard and caring for her flowers. She was also a good cook and loved cooking for her husband and family. She was especially fond of her step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Sherman and Dorothy Licklider, parents-n-law Bailey and Elsie Nelson, stepson Kenny F. Nelson Jr., brother Jerry Licklider, brothers-in-law Robert Knueven and Bill Nelson, sister-in-law Kathy Steelman, and nieces Patricia Licklider and Becky Sohn.

She is survived by her husband Ken Nelson of Cuba, MO; step-children Rebecca (Billy Joe) Griggs of Anniston, MO, Mark McCallister of Steelville, MO, and Eric (Carol) Steward of Salem, MO; brother Walter "Brad" (Bonnie) Licklider of Columbia, MO, sisters Kathy (Ken) Ahlheim of Sullivan, MO and Joyce (Ron) Sohn of Union, MO; sister-in-law of Fern Knueven of Salem, MO and brother-in-law Ronnie Steelman of Salem, MO; 6 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.



Visitation was from 11:00AM—1:00PM on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Funeral Service immediately followed at 1:00PM with Pastor Tommy Miller officiating. Burial was at Licklider Cemetery, Cuba, MO.
