She was born in Trevorton, the daughter of the late Elliot and Grace (Raup) Derk.
Marie was a former member of the Fifth Street Methodist Church. She was a graduate of William Penn High School and after graduation was a waitress at various hotels and th former Santana's in Harrisburg. She enjoyed bird watching and keeping an immaculate yard. Her greatest joy was her 59 cruises which included the Caribbean and around the world.
Surviving are her sister, Pauline E. Derk of Homeland Center, Harrisburg; nephews, Thomas L. Derk and Elliot Derk; niece, Delores Hansley; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas L. Derk, Sr. who passed away in 1963.
Funeral serivces were held at the W. Orville Kimmel Funeral Home, Inc. Burial was at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
