Graveside service: 1pm, Thursday, February 11, at Annetta Cemetery, 2667 W Farm to Market 5, Annetta, TX 76008.
Visitation: 6 to 8pm, Wednesday, February 10, Baumgardner Funeral Home, 3704 Benbrook Highway, Forth Worth, TX 76116.
Rebecca was born April 8, 1944 in Dallas. She married her lifelong love Glen King March 2, 1964, and spent 57 years exploring life and having adventures, including visiting many national treasures such as Carlsbad Caverns, Mount Vernon, and the National Cathedral. A fascinating and amazing woman, Rebecca was inquisitive and always open to learning new things and discovering new places. She loved books and flowers and antiques and birds and pretty postcards. Rebecca was an avid "treasure" hunter, finding unique items in thrift stores, antique shops, and every roadside art and garden shop she could find. From these explorations, Rebecca created and gave the most unique and wonderful gifts to family and friends. Her creativity and talents were expressed in many ways, but she especially loved creating handmade cards for family, friends, soldiers overseas, and lonely shut-ins needing someone to remind them that they are loved.
Always gracious and welcoming, Rebecca embraced every new member of the family as it grew. Her warmth and love were felt by everyone who knew her.
Rebecca loved antique roses, and she and Glen took many road trips across Texas and elsewhere to visit gardens near and far. She fulfilled a long desired dream when she landscaped her front yard like an English garden, filled with flowers, paths, and beautiful growing things. She enjoyed sitting on a bench and looking out over the beautiful garden, and it gave her much happiness to entertain and talk to family in that spot.
Even more than her flowers and crafts, Rebecca dearly loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They will miss her very much and cherish her always.
Survivors: Husband, Glen King. Children, Dana King Fernandez (Mike Fernandez); David King (Sharon King); and Jason King. Grandchildren: Cody, Katie, Mike, and Matthew Fernandez; Lynnette Dunn; Michael and Bronwyn King. Great-grandchildren: . Brother: Andy Blakeway (Melissa Blakeway). Nephew: Brett Blakeway. Also numerous extended family members and friends.
