Rex A. Rice, 73, passed away in Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne on April 9, 2021. He was born in Marion on July 7, 1947.
Rex was a 1965 graduate of Van Buren High School and lived in Grant County all of his life. Rex married Marsha his loving wife on May 8, 1976 and celebrated 25 years of marriage until her passing in 2001. He was employed by RCA/Thomson until his retirement in 2002. In his free time Rex enjoyed collecting baseball cards and coins, watching sports of all kinds especially the Dodgers, gardening and spoiling his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Joshua A. Rice, Gas City; Jessica A. (Michael) Glaser, Jonesboro; Stacy Lynn ( Barry) McMullen, Marion; mother, Katherine (Nantz) Smelser, Marion; brothers, David B. Rice, Marion; Jeffrey H. Smelser, Kokomo; sister, Barbara Brown, Jonesboro; 4 grandchildren, Jayden Glaser, Aly Glaser, Justin Rice, Jamon Hogue; 3 great-granchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, James H. Rice; brother James Robert Rice; brother-in-law, James Brown; nephew, Eddie Brown.
Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm on Thursday, April 15, 2021 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana. The funeral will follow at 1pm with Rev. Ben Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.
