Mrs. Doris Lynez (Duke) Keith, age 84, of the Shannon Community, passed away peacefully at her home on April 11, 2021.

One of five children, Mrs. Keith was born at home in Polk County, GA on May 6, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Greene William "G.W." Duke and Inez Tabor Duke.

Mrs. Keith was a resident on the Shannon Community for the greater part of her life. She was a 1955 graduate of Model High School, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Shannon for many years before moving her membership to New Antioch Baptist Church, also in Shannon.

After retiring from Burlington Mill, shortly after the birth of her eldest grandson, Mrs. Keith began working with the children at the New Antioch Baptist Church Kindergarten Program where she was loving known as "Mrs. Doris" and "grandmother'' by many of her students. She truly loved the children that she worked with and spent the next 20 years doing so.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Elaine Trammel, and one brother, Mr. James Duke.

Mrs. Keith leaves behind her loving husband of over 64 years. On December 22, 1956, she was married to Hobert Gene Keith. He stayed by her side and provided at home care until her passing. She also leaves behind one son, Kenneth Gene Keith, of Rome, two brothers, Johnny Duke of Jasper, GA. and Ralph Duke of Rome, GA.

Mrs. Keith was the proud grandmother of two grandsons, Jeremy Benjamin Keith, and his wife Lori, of Silver Creek, GA, and his brother, Wesley Scott Keith, and his wife Anna, of Charlotte, NC., and three great-granddaughters, Madeline Elizabeth Keith (14), and sisters Emily (4) and Nora Keith (1) of Charlotte, along with several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Keith was known, and loved, for her sweet, caring, and kind heart. She leaves behinds to very dear childhood friends, Mrs. Sandra Austin Smith, and Mrs. Elizabeth (Libby) Powell Battles. While working as the "class assistant" in the Kindergarten Program, she also developed and very close friendship with Mrs. Judy Ellis, which continued through her retirement. She had many friends throughout her life, all of which she loved dearly, and these three ladies were especially close to her heart.

Mrs. Keith was a talented lady, and one of her favorite things to do was flower arrangements and decorating.

The family will receive friends at New Antioch Baptist Church in Shannon, GA, on Thursday, April 15, 2021, from 12:00 noon until 2:00PM with funeral services for Mrs. Keith to follow.
