Blanche Betty Backrack Rose passed away early Saturday morning, April 10, 2021, in Houston, Texas.
Blanche Betty Bachrack Rose, was born June 23, 1932 in Houston, Texas to Irving and Ella Kaufman Bachrack.

At an early age, she moved to New York and then back to Houston as a teenager, where she attended Lanier Junior High and San Jacinto High School. Her family were charter members of Temple Emanu El. She met Irving, her husband-to-be at the 1949 AZA Valentine Dance and they were married the following year on February 19th, 1950.

She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Lillian Kaufman Bachrack and brother Harold Bachrack.

Blanche is survived by her loving husband Irving and four children, Arthur (Gail), Elaine, Steve (Natasha) and Eliot. She is also survived by seven grandchildren - Isaac, Lela, Jenny, Ted, Lee, Gabi and Harrison, and by two great grandchildren - Charlotte and Evy.

Irving and Blanche eventually moved to the Woodshire neighborhood where they, along with their children, formed lifelong friendships. It is from that foundation that Blanche and her close friends, Edith Daily, Pat Chanon and Harriet Steinberg, opened a high fashion women's clothing store, called Boutique Four, that was located in the Meyerland area. After moving to Meyerland, the Rose Family continued to build lasting friendships.

Later in life, Blanche continued to have an active career, working as a medical administrator until she was 80. Even into retirement, she continued to be very active volunteering at Congregation Beth Yeshurun, where she made sandwiches for the needy. She also volunteered at Jewish Family Services. She was a voracious reader and up until Covid she continued with her Jewish education at the JCC Melton School. Above all else, Blanche's greatest joy was bringing her entire collection of family and friends into the same "room". She would watch in delight as we told stories, sang songs and laughed together. Mostly, she loved that we all loved each other.

Due to safe Covid-19 practices, the service will be private. Please see below for access to the Livestream.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the family's shiva fund at Rice Epicurean or making a donation in Blanche's Memory to Jewish Family Service of Houston, www.jfshouston.org
