MIDDLETON/MC FARLAND- William "Bill" Borton, age 69, of Middleton/McFarland passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at his home in Dawsonville, Ga. Bill was born on Aug. 27, 1947 in Richland Center, the son of Clint and Bernice (Patch) Borton. He graduated from Richland Center High School in 1965. Bill then attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, graduating with his bachelor of science in Civil Engineering, and later obtaining his Professional Engineer designation. During his last year of college, he married Sally Ann Chellevold on Aug. 17, 1968. Bill is survived by his wife, Sally of 48 years; daughter, Rebekah (David); two grandchildren, Caroline and Ryan; brother, Robert (Ellen) Bender; sister-in-law, Susan (Carl) Huth; sister-in-law, Nancy Chellevold; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clint and Bernice; his brother, Ron Bender; as well as, his parents-in-law, Carl and Doris Chellevold; and brother-in-law, Steve Chellevold. Bill was known for his ability to combine his engineering and mechanical skills with his creative vision; as a result, he was able to design, build or fix just about anything that family, friends or coworkers could request. He was also a skilled drummer, playing throughout high school and then in college. His love of music and hobby of playing his drums brought him great joy throughout his life. His professional life was comprised of many successful roles, which included working as an engineer for Shell Oil in Dayton, Ohio, and then Terra Engineering and Construction, in Madison. However, he found his dream career as Controller at The Bruce Company, in Middleton, working with the company until his retirement in 2009. A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, at 2 p.m., on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
