He was born February 13, 1948 in Memphis, TN the son of the late Clarence Lindsey and Geneva Parsons Newman. He was a 1966 graduate of Frayser High School, there he was in ROTC. He attended Memphis State for two years and was drafted into the Military during the Vietnam Era. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and then later joined the TN National Guard and served about fifteen years.
He married Olivia Brown on July 18, 1969. They made their home in Covington until moving to Henderson in 1980.
Mr. Newman is survived by two sons, Chris Newman of Henderson and Kevin Newman (Naomi) of Finger; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren and a sister, Sandra Rowland of Millington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Olivia Newman in October 2010 and a daughter-in-law, Christie Lynn Newman.
Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Friday, April 16th at Cave Springs Cemetery.
