Jamie Carroll Burton, 86 years of age, of Steele, Alabama, departed this life to join his Lord in Heaven on May 26th, 2019.
Jammie was born on March 21st, 1933, son of the late James C. and Othella Burton. He was a longtime member of Chandler Mountain Baptist Church, and served the Church as a deacon for many years. He was a member of the Alabama Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame, a lifelong tomato farmer in the Chandler Mountain community, and an advisor for Ashville Savings Bank's Steele Branch.
Jamie was survived by his loving wife of sixty-nine and a half years, Marlene Alexander Burton; three sons, Keith (and Sandy) Burton, Kenneth (and Nancy Jo) Burton, and Chris (and Lynn) Burton; seven grandchildren, Corey (and Brent) Phillips, Stephanie (and Shane) Rogers, Joey (and Tracy) Cash, Wes (and Michelle) Burton, Brian (and Paige) Cash, Brandon (and Brandi) Burton, and Eric Burton; thirteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Edwina (and Jim) Luther, Linda (and Danny) Bowlin, and Nancy West; several nieces & nephews; and a host of other family, extended family, and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James C. Burton, who departed this life on September 10th, 1975 and Othella Burton, who departed this life on January 8th, 1993; three sisters, Marguerite (and Jack) Beason, Chasteen (and Dempsey) Brothers, and Gwendolyn (and Fred) Derusso; and one brother, Anthony (and Shirley) Burton.
Visitations were held from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29th, 2019 at the Chandler Mountain Baptist Church in Chandler Mountain, Alabama.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29th, 2019 at the Chandler Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Wise and Rev. Larry Mann officiating.
His pallbearers were: Joey Cash, Brian Cash, Wes Burton, Brent Phillips, Brandon Burton, and Eric Burton. His honorary pallbearers were: Rodney Burton, Cameron Tillman, Shane Rogers, Robert Barnes, and deacons of Chandler Mountain Baptist Church.
Graveside service and Interment will followed in the Chandler Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery with Danny Bowlin offering the committal prayer.
