Dennis D. "Howard" Stanley, age 59 of Mecosta formerly of Barryton, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at home due to complications from liver cancer. He was born April 7, 1958 in Barrie, Canada, the son of Homer and Eileen (Gorsuch) Stanley.

Dennis was honorably discharged from the United States Army after being trained for driving heavy equipment. He then began his 25 year career driving truck for various companies. Dennis enjoyed his job, his dog Sassy, hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and any and all sports. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. Dennis supported and encouraged his grandchildren by attending their events, activities, and playing games with them. He attended Potter's House Family Worship Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Dennis is survived by his wife of nearly 20 years, Elizabeth Stanley of Mecosta; daughter, Melissa (Ben) Carlson of Lakeview; three step-children, John Sr. (Janet) Snider of Mecosta, Roger (Katrina) Snider of Florida, and Melissa (Andrew Fewless) Snider of Big Rapids; four grandchildren, Chase, Brady, Noah, and Bailie Carlson; eight step-grandchildren, John Snider Jr., Kelcie Jones, Matthew Smith, Brianne Giesie, Madison Snider, Hannah Snider, Abygail Snider, and Samantha Snider; six step-great-grandchildren; five siblings, Dianna (Dan) Maynard of Canada, Shirryl Sanger of Big Rapids, Arthur Stanley of Gowen, Terry (Annette) Stanley of Wisconsin, and Lori Hendersen of Big Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Eileen Stanley; sister, Kathy DeWulf; half-sister, Mary Jane Younkee; and two half-brothers, Larry Titus and Richard Stanley.

Funeral services will take place 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 4th at the Funeral Home and again from 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral. Dennis will be laid to rest at Flake Cemetery in Barryton.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dennis' name to Hospice of Michigan or Hope Lodge Cancer Center in Grand Rapids.
