Michael William Sample, age 51, died at home on April 8, 2021 after a long fight with cancer.
He was born on October 17, 1969 in Denver, Colorado to Wayne and Linda Herbaugh Sample.

He spent his youth in Sutton, Nebraska, returning to the Denver area as an adult. Michael loved the Colorado Mountains. He enjoyed visiting relatives in Nebraska, Texas, and Wyoming, but could never be persuaded to move from Colorado.

He worked for H&R Block for several years as a tax preparation specialist. He enjoyed the work and his clients loved him, asking for him year after year to help with their tax prep needs.

Mike was a firm believer in the value of marijuana for medical and recreational use. He attended rallies for legalization in Colorado and rejoiced when those laws passed. He believed hemp had great potential in many industries and liked to talk about its positive impact on the environment.

Michael loved rock and roll, especially heavy metal, and attended numerous concerts. He was a Bronco fanatic, a true orange and blue fan in good seasons and bad. He loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers, almost as much as the Broncos. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, and a loyal friend.

Michael William Sample (Michael Bill, as he was known to his family) is survived by his father Wayne Michael (Deborah) Sample of Weldona, Colorado; his sister Lisa (Adam) Winter Wenzel of Elmwood, Nebraska and children Anna, Kirsten, Stephanie and Nicole; brother Travis (Shannon) Sample of Cibolo, Texas and children Kaitlin and Hunter; sister Melissa (Chris) Zimbelman of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother Austin (Natalie) Shackelford of Longmont, Colorado and children Jordan, Marissa, Dylan, Madison and Lea; sister Heidi (David) Winter Northrop of Worms, Nebraska.

He is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins that he dearly loved and treasured. HE loved going to family reunions and spending time with his extended families and hearing all the great stories that were shared. Mike had many friends and some that were more like family, especially Kevin, Bob, and Owen.

Michael William Sample was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Herbaugh Sample Winter; his stepfather Bill Winter; a sister, Michelle Susan Sample; and his friend Lurch.

Three words that describe Michael's life: Passionate. Giving. Caring.
