Shirley Knapp Holmes, 84, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was born to the late Charles Iver Knapp and Georgia Edna Knapp in Columbus, Ohio on November 9, 1936.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jean, Jackie, and Gwendolyn; and niece, Peggy. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Larry Holmes. Shirley never went a day without love. She is also survived by her brother, Charles "Bub" Knapp and wife, Deanna; two children, Larry "Scott" Holmes and Becky Gaston; and one granddaughter, Janey Gaston. Shirley also leaves behind nieces, nephews, loving friends, and she will be missed dearly by all of them.

Shirley was a dedicated member of the First Southern Methodist Church of Stonewall, and will be remembered fondly by her friends at the church. She served her country in the United States Air Force, and retired in 1995 from the food service industry at Caddo Parish Schools. She enjoyed reading books (particularly mysteries), and her granddaughter reports that her favorite memories with her Mamaw, Shirley, were solving mysteries with her.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join in the celebration of Shirley's life at the graveside service at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 12 noon officiated by Reverend McKee Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
