DEATH OF AN OLD PIONEER RESIDENT
--J. F. HALE PASSES AWAY AFTER LINGERING ILLNESS
---Funeral and Burial Services Conducted at Hickory
Hill Baptist Church Wednesday by Rev. Hensley--

One by one the old human landmarks of Cole county are passing to the Great Beyond. J. F. (Fount)Hale died at the home of his son, D. C. Hale, near Bass Tuesday night at about 10:30. Dropsy was the immediate cause of his death and he had been a patient sufferer since last May. Deceased was born on the farm he died on in December, 1839. He was 70 years, 2 months and 9 days old.

With the passing of Fount Hale Cole county loses one of its best and most useful citizens. He was widely known through- out the county for his honesty and integrity and his strictly fair dealing in all his business transactions.
During the the late war he enlisted in the army under General Price and was a conspicous figure in the battle of Waterloo.

He was married to Miss Sarah Jane Sappenfield several years ago to which union were born eight children, five of whom survive him, together with his aged wife. They are: M. E., J. W., D. C., Mrs. Lafe Dawson and Mrs. Joe Farmer all of this county (Cole).

Deceased united with the Hickory Hill Baptist church more than 30 years ago and during his younger days was an active worker for the case of Christ, being many times a delegate to different associations.

Funeral services were conducted at the Hickory Hill Baptist church Thursday morning by Rev. A. J. Hensley, after which the remains were laid to rest in the church cemetery amid a large crowd of sorrowing friends and relatives who gathered to pay their last respects to this honorable old man.
