ALVIS, Rev. Charles Wesley, 82, of Chesterfield, Va. went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Maude Alvis; brothers, Harry, William and John Alvis; and sisters, Sally Alvis and Alice Margaret May. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Parks Alvis; children, Joanna Hoyt (Ian), Wendy Allard (Chris) and Jason Wesley Alvis (Julia); grandchildren, Ethan, Aidan, Callum, Lucy and Arabella Hoyt, Isaac Alvis, and Theodor and Eleanor Alvis; and sisters, Barbara Kuntze and Ruth Evelyn Alvis. He proudly served his country for 3 years in the U.S. Navy, then went on to serve as a pastor for about 40 years in various churches throughout Va. and N. C. where he loved working with children, specifically hosting Vacation Bible Schools with puppet ministry. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2021 at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. A funeral ceremony will be held 12 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church, 10230 Hull Street Rd. Midlothian, Va. Click Here for Live Stream.
