Age 77, of Apple Valley, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at home on April 1, 2021 after a brief battle with Lymphoma. Preceded in death by his father, James Spillane, and mother, Esther "Mickey" Avery. Born in Duluth and raised in Minneapolis where he was a graduate of North High School class of 1961. Attended University of Minnesota and member of the Minnesota National Guard. Married his wife of 55 years, in 1965. Along with partners, started Powder Technology, Inc. in 1980. It has been a very successful business venture which continues today and allowed him the luxury of retiring in 2004 at the age of 59.
