Emma Jean Goodwin died Wednesday, March 10, 2021. She was 84 years old.
Preceded in death by her parents, Wesley A., and Addie Louella Whittenburg, her husband, Paul Edward Goodwin, Sr., and her only child Paul Edward Goodwin, Jr.

A graveside for Emma will be held 11 am Monday, March 15, 2021 at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.

Emma was born in Eagleville, Tennessee but grew up in Nashville. She was the seventh child of eight siblings: six sisters and two brothers. None survive her.

Emma had many interests. She was a long-standing member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., Oak Hill Garden Club, and the Horticulture Society of Middle Tennessee. She was fond of traveling, both domestically and abroad, with large groups of her friends. Some excursions became yearly rituals. Friday night card games and domino competitions with her friends were legend.

An avid sports fan, Emma was both spectator and player. As a teenager she played Women's Basketball for her Alma Mater, East High. She excelled at bowling and played in several leagues. She loved the game of golf and all her golfing buddies in the Spencer Creek Ladies 9 Hole League (now called Cheekwood Golf Course) in Franklin. She loved Vanderbilt Basketball, Vanderbilt Baseball, and the Tennessee Titans.

Her large family gatherings for Easter and Thanksgiving were a tradition, as were the let's celebrate Emma's birthday luncheons organized yearly by her nieces and nephews.

Emma was beloved for her steadfast loyalty, compassion, infectious laugh, and keen wit.

All who were cherished by Emma feel a great void. Her love was all-encompassing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital.
