Nancy Jane Hills Lamps, 80, of Rockford, IL, passed away on April 3, 2021 after battling acute myeloid leukemia (AML) since the summer of 2019. Nancy was born on August 4, 1940 to Herbert and Gladys Hills, in Salt Lake City, UT. She attended William M. Stewart School and East High School and later studied Sociology at the University of Tennessee, Texas Christian University, and the University of Utah, where she received her bachelor's degree. After graduation, Nancy was a child welfare worker in Brownsville, Texas and Huntsville, Alabama where she helped unwed mothers make adoption plans for their children and helped children in foster homes who had suffered from neglect or abuse. In 1960, Nancy met Bill Lamps who was visiting his sisters at the University of Utah. After eight years, they reconnected at the beginning of 1968 and were wed later that year, going on to have three sons, Michael, Dana, and David. Nancy was a synchronized swimmer, folk dancer, seamstress, gardener, avid reader, cub scout leader, family history consultant, member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, sincere friend, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

Survived by her husband, William Lamps, Jr.; daughter, Kelley Cameron, her husband Cory and their children Hunter and Kathleen; sons, Michael Lamps, Dana Lamps, his wife Heather, and their children Marryne, Kaleb, Eleanor, and Maeley, David Lamps, his wife Rebecca, and their children Andrew, Adellyn, Evette, and Nora; Siblings, David Granger Hills and wife Carolyn; Sister-in-law, Kay Hills. Nancy is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Predeceased by her parents, Herbert Bagley and Gladys Evelyn (Granger) Hills; Siblings, Herbert Lee and wife, Lois Moffat Hills, Beverly June Hills and husband, William M. Curtis, and Louis Thayer Hills.
