From The Austin Democrat, September 28, 1897:

MYRA L. OGDEN
Death of an Old Settler of Oakland.
Another old settler of the county has been called by death. Mrs. Myra L. Ogden of Oakland died yesterday afternoon of cancer of the liver. In her death Oakland loses a good woman and the Baptist church a willing worker and a staunch member.

Mrs. Ogden's family name was Lightly. She was born at Evans, Erie county, York state, in 1837. The family moved to Beaver Dam, Wis., in 1855. She married John Ogden September 16, 1858, and moved to Oakland in 1861, where they built the house now occupied by Eugene E. Ogden. Mr. Ogden died in 1865, since which time Mrs. Ogden has kept house for her brother, T.J. Lightly, at whose home she died. She leaves three children, Eugene E. Henry and Mrs. Mary Josephine Bennett. She also leaves several brothers and sisters, John and J.T. of Oakland, Henry of Austin town, Mrs. William Pilgrim of Moscow, Mrs. A. O. Wiseman of Oakland, George and Frank of Colorado, and Mrs. Hattie Dyelan of Kansas.

The funeral will take place at Oakland tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the chapel. Revs. Whitney and Belden will officiate.
