David Joe Dean

Oct. 24, 1941 – April 2, 2021

On Friday, April 2, David Joe Dean, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at home with his family by his side.

David was born in Dallas, Texas on Oct. 24, 1941 to Preston Joe and Ruby Irene (Ashley) Dean. As a child, he moved with his family to Hayward, Calif., where he graduated from Hayward High School in 1959. Upon graduating, he began his career as a general contractor and continued with his profession for 52 years. He married Anna Sue Dean, his high school sweetheart and eternal companion on May 14, 1960. They raised two sons, Dave and Don and one daughter Amy. In 1975, David and his wife relocated with their family from the Bay Area to Cameron Park.

David was an excellent golfer. He loved working with his hands and was detail oriented in everything that he did. He was most known for his ability to make people smile. He had a quick wit and a kind heart. He touched the lives of the many people he came in contact with and was known to be a loyal friend. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many capacities. He especially enjoyed his time serving as a temple worker in the Oakland California Temple. His greatest love was his family. He often wrote letters and messages to his loved ones expressing his love and gratitude for them.

David was preceded in death by his father Preston and his mother Irene. He is survived by his wife Anna, his three children, Dave (Denise) Dean, Don (Kala) Dean and Amy (Brian) Andersen, his 11 grandchildren and his two great grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Green Valley Mortuary in Rescue, Calif., on April 12 at noon.
