Robert E. Buck Died At The Age Of 91 Years

One of Bandera County's most loved and highly respected gentlemen passed away here Thursday, June 24, 1965.

Robert Edward (Rob) Buck died quietly at his home at the age 91 years, 3 months and 16 days of age.

Mr. Buck was born March 8, 1874 at Pipe Creek, Texas, the son of Ebinezar and Mary Buck, early residents of that community. On May 10, 1899 he was happily married to Miss Jennie Gibbons Caldwell by Rev. J. M. Witt, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Storms at Pipe Creek. They lived happily together for over 66 years, and celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary and following anniversaries.

To this union was born four sons and two daughters.

Mr. Buck served as Commissioner for Precinct No. 2, Pipe Creek from 1911 through 1919, having been elected in the fall election of 1910.

The Buck family lived in the San Geronimo and Pipe Creek Communities until 1932 when they moved to Winans Creek. During the years Mr. Buck engaged in the farming business and operated a truck line. He retired in 1950 and moved into Bandera, where he made his home until his death.

Mr. Buck was a faithful member of the Baptist Church.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist Church Friday afternoon June 25, 1965 and interment was made in the Pipe Creek cemetery under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home. Rev. E. C. Ray of San Antonio, a former pastor of the local church and Rev. J. Manley Reynolds, present pastor conducted the service.

Pallbearers were Raymond Smith, Forest Stevens, Ed Welch, D. E. Conwill, Jr., Bob Mansfield, and D. W. (Speedy) Hicks.

Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Hicks, Joe Munsch, Claude Ryan, John Heinen, Fred Mansfield, Carl Wheeler, Preston Wedgeworth, Henry Lewis of Kerrville, Lee Walker, Clinton Risinger, Elmer Edmundson of Buchanan Dam.

Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Jennie Buck; sons, Loris E. Buck of Houston, Claude Buck of LaPorte; two daughters, Mrs. Arthur Edmundson of Dayton, and Mrs. Allie Allsup of Medina; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grand-children; and one sister, Mrs. Mammie Buck of Clifton, Texas. Two sons preceded him in death.
