John was born July 29, 1948 in Pawhuska, OK the son of Willard John and Patricia Ann (Wilson) Hurd. On July 3, 1995, he married the former Tommie Kaye Lang in Pawhuska. John was always a cowboy and rancher. He enjoyed the ranching life, taking care of cattle and riding good horses. John was known for many things, one of which was his ability to ride a buckin' horse. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed listening to audio books. He was a member of the Osage County Cattlemen's Association.



Surviving are his wife, Tommie; children John Hurd, Jr. of Pawhuska, JB Hurd and wife, Shelly, of Pawhuska, JR Hurd and wife, Heather, of Ponca City, Jake Elliott and wife, Jessie, of Burbank and Samantha Hurd of Grove; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters Sharon Morten and Anne Vinson; as well as other family and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents.



Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 23, 1:00 PM, at the Burbank Cemetery, Burbank, OK. Pastor Seth Pester will officiate. Interment will follow.
