Lloyd "Junior" Root, 86, of Canton, Ohio, died May 18, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Lost Creek, W.Va., the son of the late Lloyd M Root and Delphia Hendrickson Root Allen.
Junior graduated from Harrisville High School in 1940 and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He had owned and operated several Exxon Gas Stations in the Canton, Ohio, area and later worked at Buckeye Sports Supply in Canton.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Roberta Davisson Root; son, Michael L. Root of Akron; daughters, Rosalie Brooks and Barbara Kautsch, both of Canton; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one son, Clyde Dean Root, who died in Vietnam, and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with the Rev. Harlan Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrisville I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
