Edgar J. Burgdorf, 91, formerly of 1534 N. 16th St., died Thursday, March 31, 1988 at Sunny Ridge Nursing Center. He and his wife, Leona, have resided there for the past 14 months.
He was born January 12, 1897 in Elkhart Lake, a son of the late Nathan and Eva Diefenthaler Burgdorf. He moved to Kiel with his family when he was a child.
On May 18, 1920 he married Leona Karstaedt at Bethlehem Church in the Town of Schleswig. The couple moved to Sheboygan in 1921.
Mr. Burgdorf was a foreman in the wood shop of Garton Toy Co. for over thirty years, retiring in 1959.
He was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ.
Mr. Burgdorf is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Leora) Kapitn of Sauk City, Wisconsin and Mrs. Francis (Beatrice) Ploetz, of Sheboygan; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Funeral services for Edgar J. Burgdorf will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 1988 at Nickel-Lippert Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Page, pastor of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
