Ruby Aileene Greene, 97, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away on the morning of April 08, 2021 at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in Black Mountain.



She was born in Avery County on February 12, 1924 to the late Thomas Gibbs Green and Vina Cook Green.



Ruby was a devoted Christian for all her adult life and was anxiously awaiting the day the Lord called her Home. She was a longtime member of the Old Fort Church of God. She was an avid music lover and was very gifted in songwriting. Ruby loved her family dearly and will be missed by all.



In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Don Greene; two children, Nadine Greene and Rev. Stephen Greene; a grandson, Jeff Ricketts; nine siblings, Talmadge, Oscar, Frank, Ballard, and Jack Green and Dimple Stewart, Edith Kadlec, Eva MacRae, and Georgie Eller.



She is survived by a son, Jerry Greene (Faye); two adopted children, Leisa Ricketts and Mark Ricketts (Katrina); eight grandchildren, David Ricketts, Mark Ricketts, Leisa Ricketts, Aaron Greene, Greta Buchanan, Chris Greene, Jose Greene, and Chad "Snapper" Greene; 22 great grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Mae McPeters; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Jamie Burnette.



A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Old Fort Church of God at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Gerald Gibson, Brenda Allison, and Snapper Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will follow at Old Fort City Cemetery.
