He was born April 20, 1957 in Caldwell County to the late Forrest Albert Powell, Sr. and Shirley Moore.
He was also preceded by three brothers, Forrest Delaine Powell, Forrest Powell, Jr., and Carl Harper.
He was a member of People's Tabernacle and retired from the City of Lenoir.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Lynn Corpening Powell; son, Terry M. Powell; daughter, Tara (Anthony) Perkins; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Pastor Rhonda Scott, Rev. Kimila Powell of Lenoir and Rev. Karen Parson of Lenoir; one aunt, Alice Dula.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Bishop Michael Sloan.
Burial will immediately follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
