Lydia was born Jan. 2, 1915 to Ernest L Smith and Bessie Mae Smith in Independence, MO. She was a lifelong resident of Independence. She marries her husband Wallace D (Bill) Bryant in 1938. They had no children but doted on their many niece and nephews, great and even great-great nieces and nephews as well as the neighborhood children. She was a homemaker, worked as a cashier at the A&P grocery store for 12 years as well as Lake City Arsenal during WW2. She was an excellent cook and seamstress.
Lydia and her husband had a travel trailer and traveled all over the United States. They would winter in Arizona where she would hand quilt beautiful quilts. She also did counted cross-stitch. They both enjoyed square dancing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, her parents, and her seven brothers preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sister Rose Mary Baker, sister-in-law, Marie Smith, many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation, April 10, 2021 at 1 p.m., funeral service at 2 p.m. at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64050. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
