Whitener – Lettie Mae Whitener, age 88, of Macclenny, Florida passed away September 9, 2018 at St. Vincent's Riverside Center for Caring in Jacksonville, FL. She was born September 19, 1929 in Glen St. Mary, FL to the late David Crews and Lettie Mae Rhoden Crews. Lettie was born and raised in Baker County where she met and married the love of her life, George Alexander Whitener, Sr. on July 3, 1945. They moved to Naples, Florida in 1945 and returned to Baker County in 1976. Lettie was always cooking, sewing and gardening. Lettie loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was always in prayer for those she loved. She loved attending church at Macclenny Church of God where she was a long-time member. Lettie is predeceased by her parents; husband; children, George Alexander Whitener, Jr., and Mary Whitener Paxton; sister, Minnie Ruth Kirkland Luke.

Lettie is survived by her daughter, Nell Crews of Macclenny, Fl; half-sister, Betty Faye; half-brothers, Jack (Shirley) Crews and Clyde Crews both of Glen St. Mary, FL' grandchildren, George Cortland (Adrienne) Paxton, Tina Marie (Darrell) Knight; great grandchildren, Shawn (Riley) Norris, Kacy Norris, Gabriel Paxton, Emma Rae Paxton, Elijah Paxton, Isaiah Paxton; 2 great-great grandchildren Weston Lyons and Bronson Norris.

A Celebration of Lettie's life will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services with Pastor Larry Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Taylor Cemetery.
