Lady Margaret Doris "Margo" Kempson Hickman
Born 23 January 1918 in Barnet, Middlesex, England
Died 8 June 1996 in Watford, Hertfordshire, England
Father: Leonard Kempson, a prominent businessman

1st marriage was to Lieutenant Sir Denis Thatcher, 1st Baronet of Scotney (1915-2003) on 28 March 1942 in St. Mary's Church, Monken Hadley, London, England, United Kingdom. The couple met at a society dance and both felt an immediate attraction to the other. He proposed after a short courtship, and her father gave his blessing for them to marry. Although initially they were happily married, their marriage coincided with his World War II military service. Thatcher had enlisted in the Royal Engineers at the beginning of the war and later served in the Royal Artillery. Immediately following a brief honeymoon, he was deployed and remained abroad almost their entire marriage. The couple never lived together and they were only able to spend a few weekends together when she was able to join him during infrequent weekend leaves. Their long separations eventually created what proved to be an irrepairable strain in their marriage. Thatcher had been promoted to Major by the time he returned to England in 1946 and was demobilized; it was then Margot informed him she had met someone else and asked for a divorce. 53 years later, Thatcher's daughter wrote in the 1996 biography of her father that he had been so traumatized by the failure of his first marriage and separation that he refused to talk about it after the divorce. Not even the two children from his second marriage knew of his first marriage until the media revealed it 1976, when their mother became the Leader of the Opposition party in Parliament.

2nd marriage was to Sir Alfred Howard Whitby Hickman, 3rd Bart (1920-1979) 24 January 1948, widowed

Mother of Sir Richard Glenn Hickman, 4th Bart (1949)
