Scientist. Primo Yúfera was a pioneer in the research on applications relating to the agricultural products. After studying Chemistry at the University of Valencia, he moved to the University of Basel, where he worked in the laboratory of the Nobel prize-winner, Dr. Tadeo Reichstein. On his return to Valencia, he created the Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology and was its first director from 1957 to 1974. Since 1976 he has been associated with the activities of the Club of Rome. Primo Yúfera has been a member of the New York Academy of Sciences since 1994. He also has received numerous scientific awards, in particular: the "Juan de la Cierva" prize for technical research and the Rey Jaime I New Technologies prize. In his long career, he holds a Gold Medal from the Valencia Polytechnical University, the title of Commander and holder of the Grand Cross of the Order of Alfonso X "the Wise" and the gold medal of Merit in Work. In 2005, he was named Illustrious Valencian.
