George was retired from the Operating and Engineers Local 18. He was a member of First Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the F&AM Lodge #33 Unionport.
Surviving are his wife Barbara McKinney Strachan, whom he married July 1, 1995; three daughters Jodi (Elmer Martin) Strachan of Steubenville, Meggan (Hugo) Strachan-Rodriguez of Las Vegas and Samantha Strachan (Robert Drake) of Steubenville; one step-son Michael (Lisa) Kenney of Steubenville; one step-daughter Susan White of Steubenville; two brothers Scott (Sheila Hanlin) Strachan of Steubenville and James (Michelle) Strachan of Steubenville; three sisters Connie (Dan) Creek of Steubenville, Nancy (John) Lelles of Steubenville and Margaret (Jake Wilson) Strachan ; 10 grandchildren Mikayla, Mya, Andrew, Dakota, Laela, Cameron, Kellie, Bethany, Lawrence and Johnathon; four great grandchildren Sophia, Kaleel, Myani, Gage and his K9 companions Marley and Buddy.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 3-7 pm at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville. Additional visitation will also be held Friday from 12:30 pm until times of services at 1:00 pm at First Westminster Presbyterian. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery.
