David Gordon Jr. (devoted husband, loving father and retired chef) of Hawthorn, Florida born August 8, 1955 took his rest on April 2, 2021 at the age of 65. His battle with serious medical conditions over the years did not hold him back. He continued to build, fix, and improve his life and the lives of those he held dear.
As a child David was very adventurous which often got him into trouble. He remained the same through adulthood with a determination to enjoy life to the fullest. David met the love of his life, Lorene Edwards Gordon, In 1972. Their young love blossomed into a great romance. They were inseparable and later married, their marriage lasted four plus decades. David and Loren's love brought into this world four blessings, their children Donna, David, Richard, and Rena.
David enjoyed music and dancing. He and Lorene would often dance and bring down the house. Whether it was at a party or in their living room it was a sight to see. David was a family man through and through. Every weekend after the work week he'd pack up the kids (children, nieces, and nephews) and to the lake or beach they'd go. If not to the water it was off to see various family members to watch "Creatures Feature" and have BBQ and seafood boils with family and friends partying until "wait," did those parties ever end? David was a stickler for follow through and good work ethnics. If you didn't get the job done by sundown you would be up at 1:00AM to finish it! Installing the importance of family communication was his goal. It was no surprise to have 3:00 AM chats.
Now that David has transitioned on, he now joins the love of his life Lorene Edwards Gordon, mother Myrtle Gordon, father David Gordon, Sr., sisters Emma Gordon, Ovela Gordon, Nancy Davis, Gwendolyn Woods, bothers James Gordon, Ronald Gordon, and Harold Gordon. He is survived by his children Donna Gordon-Frazier (Earl Frazier), David Gordon, Jr. (Marcey Gordon), Richard Gordon, and Rena Gordon. Siblings Evamae Proctor, Roger Gordon, Percilla Gordon. Grandchildren Earl, Elijah, Micheal, Richard, Rhehamora, Rheamesha, Alexandria, Zavier, David, and Jeremiah. Great grand and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
The family will also hold a Memorial Celebration in David's honor on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1:00PM at Barbara's Kitchen School of Excellence (BKSE) 17050 N HWY US 301, Citra, Florida 32113.
