James Nathan Ballard, 88 of Roanoke passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. He was born October 16, 1932, son of the late James Edward and Addie Wood Ballard.

James served in the United States Army. He was store manager of Woolco Department Store for 27 years and Roses Department Store for 10 years. He was an avid reader, loved to bowl, to garden and to do yard work. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Redskins fan.

James is survived by the love of his life for 64 years, Charlotte Ballard. He is also survived by his children, Ken Ballard, Phil Ballard and Dawn Clayton and husband Mark; grandson, Josh Clayton and wife Meghan; granddaughter, Nikki Davis and husband Philip; great grandson, James Clayton.

A graveside funeral service will be held, 11 am Friday, April 9, 2021 at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Meghan Roth Clayton officiating.
