Gary Phillip Wood, 80, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 in Maumelle, Arkansas. He was born December 24, 1940 in Morrilton, Arkansas.

Gary served in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired physician. During his lifetime, Gary participated in numerous marathons and half-marathons around the world. He also loved riding his bicycle and would often take road trips to participate in organized bike rides. A quiet person, Gary loved to read and write stories and was constantly involved with random fix-it projects and he enjoyed attending church and spending time with his family. Gary spent many years sharing his love of reading with children at Jefferson Elementary School and his love of movies with his fellow parishioners. Gary enjoyed a life-long love of music, which he shared with his children and grandchildren. He firmly believed that life was too short to drink anything less than whole milk. He loved moon pies, peanut butter sandwiches (with crunchy peanut butter) and anything coconut.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billie and his mother, Leora.

Survivors: sons, Phillip (Beth) and Jeffrey (Robin); daughter, Andrea Dixon (Jeff); grandchildren, Lauren, Melissa (Brian), Noah, Olivia, Christian, Aaron and Savannah; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Gary's name to the Central Arkansas Library System, Scout Troop 30 at St. Paul Methodist Church in Little Rock or St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Little Rock.
