Jeanette M. "Jeanie" Davis, 83, of Assumption, died April 6, 2021, in Heritage Manor, Pana, IL.

Private graveside services will be held in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 in First United Methodist Church of Assumption. Please wear masks and practice social distancing. Memorials may be made to Assumption Historical Society.

Jeanie was born on December 8, 1937 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Walter and Anne (Deacon) Gallee. She married James E. "Jim" Davis on October 14, 1961. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2015.

Surviving are her sons: James (Jane) Davis of Pana, IL, Charles (Brenda) Davis of Pana, IL and Fred (Sherry) Davis of Dunkel, IL; daughters: Laura (John) Mentzer of Assumption, IL, Rosemary (Rocky) Adams of Lincoln, IL, Elisabeth Gunter of Chillicothe, MO and Joanna Jones of Assumption, IL; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and brother, Karl Gallee of Menominee, MI.

Jeanie graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1955: she attended Buffalo Bible Institute 1955/56: Trinity College 1956/58: Richland Community College 1980.

Jeanie worked at, Fuseon Products Inc. Mt. Prospect , IL 1958/60: GSI Assumption, IL 1978/80: Kennedy Central Corp. 1980/1984 in production/ inventory control: State of Illinois Revenue Department 1984/ 2005. She retired from the state in 2005. Jeanie also did mission work in the Appalachia region several summers in college.

Jeanie was a member of Assumption Christian Church, Assumption Historical Society, APICS and ABWA.

Jeanie was most importantly a genius of a mother, to her own and others. She was a strong willed independent woman/mother coupled with a fierce love of family. Her encyclopedic knowledge of the world we live in. Her skills in home making, gardening, herbalism, genealogy and crafting were immense. From school events to life events to what to make for supper, nothing was overlooked. Her creativity, compassion, ingenuity, love, tolerance and faithfulness carried throughout her life long friendships and dedication to her family.

This titan of a woman will be honored as her legacy is carried on in her family and whose lives she touched.

Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, one brother, two sisters and two grandchildren.
